Why get a Pre-Buy Check Out?
Let's face it, car shopping is usually not much fun. It should be, as you try to find the perfect vehicle with all the options you want, the color you want, and in your price range. But when looking at buying a used vehicle, it can get to the point where you just feel you have to settle for what's out there. And so many options to choose from, do you want a car, 2 or 4 door, a truck, small, medium, large, SUV, again, small, medium, large? Now there are compact and sub-compact SUV's, and do you want 4 wheel or all wheel drive? It can truly be overwhelming to figure out. Then you have to worry about how this vehicle has been taken care of; have the previous owners done regular maintenance on it, has it ever been involved in a collision or had hail damage and if so, has it been repaired correctly?
This is where a pre-buy check out comes in handy.
We will check a vehicle that comes in for a pre-buy bumper to bumper. Check to see if it's been maintained, check to see if it's been involved in any kind of a collision or has had hail damage, and if so, if it's been repaired correctly. We also check to see if there are signs of rust, to know if the vehicle was possibly involved in a flood. We can also check to see what retail value is on it, just so you are as informed as possible, and if we do find problems, let you know a cost to repair to use as a negotiating tool for the price you pay for the vehicle.
Many dealerships and car lots offer a vehicle history report, but be aware that they are not always complete and accurate. The shop owner has a car that he bought brand new and during the time he had it, was involved in 4 major accidents, and all were insurance claims. We did a vehicle history report, just to see what it would show. Only 2 of the 4 accidents were on the report.
So the next time you are shopping for a vehicle, keep us in mind to perform a pre buy check out and even if you've already purchased it, we can do a post-buy check out for you as well, with all the same things we check with a pre-buy.
